From Google News Search: "Tiles" How do I remove sealer from slate tiles? Q. We laid beautiful new slate tile on our fireplace wall - in browns, blueish greys, and rusts (called Gobi). Then we put "enhance and seal" sealer on before grouting (as suggested by the expert at the tile store) and the tiles turned very dark, and monotone boring brown. Why did this happen and how can we strip the sealer off? Asked by invelvetshoes - Thu Jul 17 16:33:10 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Use a lacquer thinner. Answered by lightpulse - Thu Jul 17 16:59:43 2008 How do you put holes in ceramic tiles to fit around the taps? Q. I am replacing damaged tiles in my bathroom and I need to replace a broken tile where the tap is. I can cut the tiles with a diamond blade but how do I cut a hole? Asked by steptoe - Sun May 24 18:37:28 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. You can do it with a diamond wet saw. The hole doesn t have to be round since the escutcheon will cover the cut.. Mark the tile front and back with a permanent fine tipped marker. Plunge cut both sides while holding a finger over the line to feel the blade as it comes through. You will not cut your self if you remove the tile when you feel it come through. I ve done the thousands of time .. Now if your using a diamond dry saw blade, mark it on the front and back and cut the tile while its on a wood board. Cut through with a plunge cut again, just go slow and a little at a time. Do this out side since its very dusty.. Any questions you can e amil me through my avatar and check my qualifications there.. With a heat gun, is there any chance of the tiles catching fire, or is it just not that hot? Asked by Princess Leia - Sun May 27 19:37:40 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. It is that hot! be carefull. This is what I did, Get an old towel, and an iron. I put the towel down and Ironed it on high. They just lifted off! And my tiles have been there since 1978! I did however have a spare Iron, and used that. It didn't hurt the iron, so if I did it again, I would use the better one!It gets hotter! That's an easy way if you want to try it.
